Businesses We Love (Social Distance Edition): Colorado Watersports & Victoria Sailing School

While we're all stuck with the obligation of Social Distancing, there are options available to get you out the house and into the state parks (still open) while still maintaining safe Social Distancing practices and abiding the health guidelines. Whether you're looking for a daytime getaway for just you, or fun for the whole family, Colorado Watersports and Victoria Sailing School have you covered.

Colorado Watersports is a convenient way for you to try all of the outdoor water recreations that you've been interested in for so long! Colorado Watersports is located at Chatfield and offers the ability to rent Paddle Board, Kayaks, Corcls, and Peddle Boats on an hourly basis. Discounts are available for groups and multiple hours, so it's an excellent way to get your family out of the house.

Want something even better? Colorado Watersports offers Day Camps for ages 5-13 for Paddle Camp and Sailing. Children with no prior experience can learn the joy of watersports while out of the house and under the supervision of a trained professional. Groups of no more than 8 children learn water safety, participate in scavenger hunts, and learn about ecology. Camps start June 1st and run through August 14th, however, due to the small size of these camps they sell out quickly so you should book now. https://www.coloradowatersports.com/camps/

Colorado Watersports' sister company is Victoria Sailing School. For experienced sailors holding an ASA 103 certification or similar relevant experience, boats are waiting for you to check out from the Why Buy Club on Chatfield, Cherry Creek, and Carter. The Why Buy club offers the flexibility of different membership depending on how many captains you're registering with your membership and whether you want to sail on weekdays or anytime.

For people who have never sailed before, don't worry. The owner of Victoria Sailing School is currently holding classes for ASA101: Intro to Sailing. You can take classes in person (wearing a mask and abiding by Social Distancing rules) or using GoToWebinar to accommodate distance learning but still give the personal touch of an instructor-led course. Participants don't need to have a camera to participate, and course materials are all PDF so that they can be printed at home or followed digitally. Courses start every two weeks, so you can enroll now and look forward to starting a class soon.
